On March 20, Steve Cole (CA), Mitch McDonald (TN), Robert Flagler (OK), Gary Howsley (TX), and Robert Lee (TX) had the privilege of being led by Sam Correro of Trans-America Trail fame through two days and 430 miles of beautiful, twisting Mississippi dirt roads and unimproved jeep trails.

The weather couldn't have been better, with the first day's temps staying in the high 50's.  As we made our way north, we rode past interesting old outback of Mississippi.  The first day's accomplishments included 240 miles of dirt roads, with just a dash of pavement to tie the next section of dirt to the last.  Ten hours after we left Madison, we rode into Batesville, Mississippi, for our overnight stay and lot of talk about the day's adventures.

On Day 2, we departed Batesville for Madison at 7:00 a.m., looking forward to another great day of dirt, scenery and fellowship with our newfound friends.  What can bond a bunch of guys quicker than motorcycles, food and adventure?  Another beautiful day with temps staying in the 60's  for our 190 miles back to Madison on the back roads!  I, for one, couldn't think of a better way to spend two days, and what a great way to get full utilization of your dual sport bike.

So, if you are looking for a way to get more miles on that dual sport of yours, just call Ol' Samuel and he can fix you up with what you need in the way of maps or tours.

Thanks, Sam, for a great time.

a note from Sam.....

The Mississippi Hill Country Ride has developed into something special.  I will be doing this ride several times a year during the Spring, Summer and Fall.  It is a two day dual sport ride with 10 hours per day on your motorcycle.  Given that Mississippi is flat, the ride is in the rolling hills of the north central part of the State.   Mostly dirt and gravel with just a tad of pavement.  It is a rural ride that is very much in the "outback".  One would be very comfortable from anything between a 225cc machine to the big Beemers.  For those riders looking for a pleasant dual sport motorcycle ride...this is it!
