Riding the trail in Colorado

Ever dreamed of traveling cross-country on your motorcycle, seeing sights you'd never see from a car and meeting great people along the way?

Hi, I'm Sam Correro. For years I passionately pursued my goal of charting a coast-to-coast, off-pavement motorcycle adventure. I studied reams of maps and surveyed thousands of miles to create what I believe is one great trip. Over time, I began to realize that a lot of people share my interests.

This journey across America is NOT a single-track tight woods ride. It is a route using dirt roads, gravel roads, jeep roads, forest roads and farm roads. Dropping down into dried-up creek beds. Riding atop abandoned railroad grades. There are sections of mud, sand, snow and rocks. It's all of the above, but it's for the Dual-Sport Rider.

The purpose of this web site is to make people aware of a helpful resource for planning a cross-country trip. I have all you will need to make your journey cross-country, including detailed roll charts and supporting maps. Some of the sections now have GPS waypoints that have been added to the new and improved roll charts. Also there is a map of the intersection, on the new and improved roll charts.

The cost of my roll chart/odometer system of navigation and a set of supporting maps, is meant only to cover my cost of production and the UPS fees. Mostly, I just want to share this adventure. May I say here, that this Trail is not for everyone. It takes a rider with a "quest for adventure" and a special "love" for a motorcycle.

Happy Riding !!!

The Trans-America Trail

The Trans America Trail ....... from East to West

The Shadow of the Rockies Trail ...... from South to North

Now the Dual Sport motorcycle rider has another choice of rides.  The Trans America Trail is a west bound ride across America.  The Trail starts in Northeastern Tennessee (as of now), and ends at the Pacific Ocean in southwestern Oregon.  Some 4,800 miles of mostly off-pavement.

The Shadow of the Rockies Trail is a Mexico to Canada ride, that starts just east of El Paso, Texas (very close to the Mexico border).  This ride is north bound and follows in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains.  I started this route in August, 2003.  It will not be finished until the fall of 2004.  If all goes well.  But the first several hundred miles have proven to be another true adventure on the motorcycle.  The two Trails will cross in southern Colorado, just southeast of Trinidad.

Please note, if you get the chance to read the articles regarding the Trail, you will see several references to crossing private land. As the course has evolved, however, I have found many ways to avoid those private properties. Today, the entire trip can be made without venturing off publicly available roads. This eliminates a potential stress for those using my maps and does not jeopardize my project. Trust me, you won't miss the private sections. It's still one great trip !!!

"The weekend in the Ozarks on the Trans America Trail was the highlight of my coast-to-coast ride.  Sam's roll charts and maps make riding the Trail a worry free and fun experience, including a too-close encounter with a mud hole on War Loop Road!"
