The Mississippi Hill Country Loop is a two day ride with a Northbound route and a Southbound route. Each day’s ride is different and takes a day to complete that leg of the loop.
The Southbound day starts in Batesville, MS. The route is 261.22 miles and ends in Gluckstadt, MS, which has a comfortable motel close to good restaurants.
Soon after you get through the city limits of Batesville, the route opens up with gravel and dirt based roads. Mississippi is rural, so just pay attention to your navigation and you will be okay.
Gas is not a problem, with many mom and pop country stores located on the route. The state has a large population of deer and wildlife. They can bust out of the woods and be a danger in front of you in an instant. When you see one deer, there are usually two or three just behind running at full speed.
You will be riding through farmland of cotton, rice, corn, and soybeans. During the harvest, heavy farm equipment will be sharing the road. Be careful and make sure that they see you.
The route is fun and can be very dusty during the hot summer or very muddy if caught in a rain storm.
Have fun, enjoy, and ride with care.
